“It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy.”
There are reasons to be thankful every day of the year. Sometimes we forget and recollect the traditional sayings of family, friends, and fortune on the “big” day; which, by no means, we should not be thankful for. But what about everything else in our lives? Thanksgiving is an action word that can be expressed throughout the year. It is a constant state of being grateful. Even if we don’t cover the big things or over-used sayings daily, there is always something to be grateful for.
For the month of November, I have been doing a “30 Days of Thankfulness” challenge. Each day I post on my personal Facebook page something that I am thankful for, no matter how trifle. It started as a challenge, but then became a habit because it forced me to re-evaluate how I looked at my day. A lightness and new appreciation followed; since to be thankful, you must push aside all pessimistic thinking. I would recommend trying this challenge on any day and watch as your outlook changes.
